In October last year ASG were contracted to provide a bespoke avionics upgrade to a Citation 501.  This was a complicated project which, in addition to installation of ADS-B Out, involved close co-ordination with the customer’s preferred Spanish DOA to develop a Part-21 Minor Modification to facilitate subsequent installation of Avidyne 540/IDF 440 STCs and provide a full IFR LPV capability.

Work commenced in mid-January and required considerable in-depth research to develop wiring to integrate the systems with the autopilot, provide appropriate annunciators, carry out design work to re-configure the instrument panel and deal with some emergent defect rectification.  The aircraft was successfully test flown and returned to Spain on 21st February 2020.

Martin Browning, ASG’s Avionics Manager said: “This was a challenging installation for ASG and required frequent adjustments in conjunction with the Spanish DOA in order to get the modification approved and fit for purpose.  That the project was successfully and met all the customer’s expectations is of great credit to all involved.”
