Job description:

This role is ideal for candidates with proven mechanical experience – whether from automotive, marine, industrial, or engineering backgrounds – who are looking to transfer their skills into the aviation sector.

As an Aircraft Fitter, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and related components. The position involves hands-on mechanical work, detailed inspections, and close collaboration with engineers and technicians to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, systems, and components.
  • Perform installation, removal, adjustment, and functional testing of mechanical assemblies and structures.
  • Assist with fault diagnosis and troubleshooting under the guidance of licensed engineers.
  • Conduct inspections in line with technical documentation, drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all maintenance tasks to approved standards and record work accurately.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised aviation equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to company procedures, health & safety protocols, and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-conscious working environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors to support an efficient workflow.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a mechanical fitter or technician is desirable—aviation experience beneficial but not essential. Ideal for those seeking a career change.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Comfortable working in a safety-critical environment.
  • Willingness to undertake training and develop aviation-specific skills.

ASG offers flexible working hours and shift patterns, a highly competitive salary, company pension scheme, comprehensive employee benefits, and opportunities for professional development and training—all within a supportive, collaborative, and forward-thinking workplace.
